By completing this course, you will:

understand the leadership and management responsibilities of a deputy headteacher;
be informed of how a deputy can support and share the school vision, lead, support and develop staff and be a pastoral leader;
be supported through the application process including school visits, writing an effective cover letter, standing out at an interview and successfully completing an interview task;
evaluate and reflect on your personal starting point and development goals;
be offered the opportunity to take part in an interview support or coaching session to help you further develop your career however you want it to go.

Jenni Wyrill

Jenni has a wealth of experience in senior leadership, including headship, director of education within a multi-academy trust and supporting other senior leaders as a SLE (specialist leader of education).
She has led on many NPQ courses for leaders throughout her career, is currently a primary school governor and holds a Master’s Degree in Primary Education. Her particular interests and specialisms are curriculum design, quality of education and assessment.
At Twinkl, Jenni is the school and trust leadership support partner, a role which means that she is always thinking about how to best support leaders in line with current trends, developments and research from across the national educational landscape.

Carly Watkins

Carly Watkins has over twenty years of experience as a primary school teacher, including several years as an assistant headteacher, with responsibility for whole school curriculum development and overseeing pupil progress and attainment. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education Practice and an NPQ in Leading Teacher Development.
Carly has been a mentor for both student and Early Career Teachers and currently facilitates the Early Career Framework for ECTs and their mentors, delivering training at conferences and via online seminars. At Twinkl PD, Carly heads up pedagogical professional development, a role which means she can support educators to develop their personal practice and pedagogy, something she is passionate about, on a national scale.
