By completing this course, you will:

gain a clear, jargon-free overview of various inclusion topics, including ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences, PDA, situational mutism, Down's syndrome, Tourette syndrome and DLD;
recognise the diverse ways these differences may manifest in a child’s behaviour, communication style and learning process within both home and school settings;
acquire a toolkit of immediate, low-cost next-step strategies to support learners across different environments;
understand how to adapt the physical and social environment (such as sensory-friendly adjustments or communication tweaks) to reduce barriers to engagement;
utilise shared language and PDF resources to ensure a consistent, supportive approach between teaching staff, support teams and parents;
shift the perspective from managing behaviour to supporting needs, fostering a culture of empathy and proactive inclusion for every learner.

Liv Gisby brings a unique and robust perspective to education, drawing over 15 years of experience across mainstream and special school settings, combined with four years of service as a police detective. Her educational career includes roles as a class teacher across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), key stage 1 and key stage 2. She then specialised as a SENDCo for six years, earning the National Award for SEN Coordination. Liv has an undergraduate degree in psychology and extensive further training in speech and language, occupational therapy (OT), autism, trauma, attachment and specific learning difficulties (SpLD) like dyslexia.

As a senior leader, she was responsible for managing staff development and delivering whole-school CPD related to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Her ability to navigate complex safeguarding issues and multi-agency work is enhanced by her background as a detective, where she focused on domestic abuse and child protection. This dual expertise now informs her work creating essential training materials for educators.

 Liv specialises in bridging the gap between clinical theory, classroom practice and critical welfare needs, ensuring that every resource she develops provides educators with the knowledge and practical tools required to offer truly holistic and impactful support for all children.

Becki Igoe

Becki Igoe joined Twinkl in September 2025 and is excited to have the opportunity to expand what Twinkl can offer for Deaf education and British Sign Language (BSL). She brings around 15 years of experience working with Deaf children, with the last 10 years spent as a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf with a Level 6 BSL qualification.

A passionate advocate for inclusion, Becki’s goal is to ensure the Deaf community is seen and included in society. She is a big believer that they need to be a part of the conversation on how to best support their community and their needs

Richard Green

Richard Green is Deaf and has been working in education for over 10 years within both colleges and mainstream schools. He recently joined Twinkl in September 2026.

Richard joined Twinkl because he wanted to help Deaf and hard of hearing children, with a real focus on ensuring all children have access to resources. Additionally, he wants to break down barriers, as he believes it is vital for children to learn information from a variety of topics.
