By completing this course, you will:

understand the theoretical foundations and cognitive science theory behind effective teacher modelling, including social learning theory, cognitive load theory and dual coding;
explore the difference between ‘live’ modelling and ‘pre-planned’ modelling; understanding the benefits and challenges of each approach;
develop practical strategies for implementing modelling techniques in the classroom, such as using backward fading and alternation with worked examples; 
learn how to intentionally plan and deliver modelling that anticipates and addresses student misconceptions; 
reflect and evaluate your modelling practices, setting meaningful goals for ongoing professional development.

Megan is a Content Writer and Editor on the CPD team at Twinkl. She is an experienced former classroom teacher and subject leader. She holds a First Class Honours Undergraduate Degree in Primary Education (5-11) with QTS and a National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML). During her time as a classroom teacher, Megan led the development of multiple curriculum areas, serving as subject lead for computing, online safety, maths and science.

Ruth is a Video Content Creator on the CPD team at Twinkl. She is an experienced primary teacher, having taught across both key stage 1 and key stage 2. Ruth has also worked as part of a music partnership, delivering high quality music lessons in a range of educational settings, including SEND and secondary schools. Ruth has also held leadership roles, including Head of Primary Music. She holds a degree in Music and Musical Theatre, a PGCE in Primary Education, and is currently working towards a qualification in Primary Music Leadership.
