TEACHER STANDARDS

Cognitive Distortions in Behaviour Management

Cognitive distortions are biased ways of thinking that can lead individuals to believe unhelpful or inaccurate things about themselves or their situations. These distortions can affect both teachers and pupils, influencing behaviour and wellbeing. By recognising and managing our own cognitive distortions—and helping pupils do the same—we can have a positive impact on behaviour management in the classroom.
